Example of a Dumpster used in Rental services
What cannot go in your dumpster?

Hazardous material is defined by any biological agent and other disease-causing agent which after release into the environment and upon exposure, ingestion, inhalation, or assimilation into any person...will or may reasonably be anticipated to cause death, disease, behavioral abnormalities, cancer, genetic mutation, physiological malfunctions...or physiological deformations in such persons or their offspring. Its very important that these materials are separated form normal trash and not placed in your dumpster.

The proper process for disposing of dangerous waste and other materials can be very complex. Let the experts in junk removal do this for you.

If not properly disposed of and released in nature such items can infect people, animals and the surrounding environment including the water supply. Do not attempt to pour or flush any household hazardous materials down the drain as it will damage the pipes and septic system in your residence, which could in turn lead to very costly repairs and fines from the local government.

What can I not dispose of myself?

Various household products can contain hazardous materials including some cleaning products, paint, rechargeable batteries, motor oil, anti-freeze, acetone, pesticide, car waxes, hair coloring, aerosol sprays, industrial glue, pain thinner, lye, spa and pool chemicals and large electronics.

There are also cleaning agents, and they are the following: abrasive cleaners, all purpose cleaners, bleach, ammonia, laundry stain removers, rug and upholstery cleaners and toilet cleaners.

Here are some tips to help lessen the amount of hazardous materials in your home and proper waste management:
  • Remember to read labels, and follow the directions.
  • Think small, use the right amount of product for the task.
  • twice as much is not twice as effective, it is twice as toxic.
  • Opt for non-toxic alternatives. Choose water-based products over solvent-based ones.
  • Ensure proper storage and keep them out of reach of small children and pets.
  • Do not mix products. Some household products, when mixed, can create toxic gases or might become explosive. Never mix products with chlorine or ammonia.

Now we have a better understanding of the products we want to avoid, don't worry. These products will be properly labeled as such. Read the labels and everything will be fine.
